We talk about how our fruit-infused vodkas have residual solids, but occasionally people call and ask, “Why does the fruit-infused vodka have a faint color? And what are these ‘floaters?’”
We use real fruit. The color comes from residual solids -- what’s left of the fruit we started with. And because we use fresh citrus fruit, there’s some citric acid in the final product. Over time, the citric acid may (or may not) develop in the vodka as a crystalline precipitate. This has zero effect on aromatics and flavor.
Like the faint tinge of residual color, the “floaters” are not defects, but a natural by-product of using fresh citrus.
