Our fruits are beautiful, delicious... and hard to find. We get a lot of our fruit from two incredible people down in California’s Central Valley. We’re very glad they’re around - if they didn’t understand how important quality is to us, Hangar One wouldn’t be what it is.

John Kirkpatrick is a marvellous human being. He’s spent most of his 75 years in citrus orchards. His main crop is the esoteric esrog (etrog) citrus, which is used almost exclusively for the Jewish holiday of Sukkot. After John and Jorg Rupf met at the Monterey Market, John has been an untiring resource for us. He makes sure his Mandarin blossoms are picked (by hand) at the height of their bloom and delivered post-haste. He hooked us up with the UC citrus experiment station, and has planted more Buddha’s Hand and Kaffir lime so we have fruit to grow with.
Christen Smith is a whirlwind dynamo, supplying the world with tons of unusual and fabulous fruit. She and her husband Lynn farm 85 acres around Exeter, CA. They grow 32 different varieties of citrus, including Buddha’s Hand. The Smiths are a staple at local farmers’ markets. They sell to many of their local restaurants, and grow oranges that are shipped around the country -- and overseas. Christen is proud to have her fruit featured in our vodka, and is far and away our best salesperson in the farm community!
