We made fruit brandies
(eaux de vie) for 20 years before we made vodka. We learned
many times that to make a truly great spirit, you have
to start with the best, ripest, freshest fruit.
Hangar One is made by infusing
real fruit into the finest midwestern wheat vodka, then
redistilling the fruit infusion on our tiny copper Holstein
pot-stills. Residual solids give
these vodkas a faint coloration. Because fruits can differ
so much from season to season, and distillation can be
affected by temperature and humidity, Jorg and Lance are
completely involved in the distilling process, constantly
smelling, tasting, blending, and generally performing acts
of wizardry to achieve consistency and magic in their final
products.
Vodkas made with such superb
ingredients and with Jorg & Lance’s mastery
of distillation techniques are hard to come by, and
it’s really unique to see where & how they are
made. If you’re in the Bay Area, come visit our distillery and tasting room in Alameda. We're open Wednesday
through Saturday, 12-7, Sunday 12-6, and we give tours Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm.. Directions to the distillery. |
